You can purchase a nice desktop computer for as little as $100 and for the most part should never pay more than half of the price that a new computer would cost you.
There are many places to acquire a used PC and in some cases you can find people who are giving computers away for free. However, you should take some time to research what you are getting and do a little planning on how you will approach the potential acquisition. This includes the make, model, condition, size and use for the computer. For example, if you require high speed internet access you might want to ensure the computer is set up as such that it can accommodate. If in this example the computer is not as cooperative to high speed internet perhaps you would use this machine for book keeping as an example.
